Hoosier and TeamBRE Victorious in ST-2 Debut Weekend
 
March 18, 2007 - Hoosier Tire and Buffomante Racing Enterprises made their Nasa Super Touring debut at the historic Road Atlanta Sports Car Course this past weekend.  After winning two consecutive National Championships in the Factory Five Challenge Series, a "spec" class for the 1965 Roadster replicas, TeamBRE stepped-up with the Super Touring 2 class in Nasa, which puts different car makes/models against each other with equal power/weight ratios.

After a shakedown run on Saturday, which netted the team a second place in the field of 6 Cobras, Mazdas and Corvettes; Tony Buffomante put the #34 Cobra on the pole in ST-2, and 3rd overall, in Sunday's qualifying with a lap of 1:35.6.  After vaulting into the overall lead at the standing start, Tony settled in for an overall 5th place finish amongst the more powerful Super Unlimited and ST-1 cars, winning the ST-2 class in the first weekend of competition.  Race times proved even quicker for TeamBRE as Tony turned a lap of 1:35.3 in race-trim, setting a new ST-2 track record at Road Atlanta. 

"The Hoosier Tires were as good as advertized!", Buffomante said after the race, "We still have a long way to go to figure out the chassis and engine combination, but I couldn't be happier with the result after all of the hard work in the off-season by Mike and Angelo.  In a couple weeks, we'll be off to VIR to continue the learning curve...and hopefully collect another win for Bruce Foss and all of the great people at Hoosier!"
