Cobra vs. Caddy War at Hyperfest 2007
 
June 24, 2007 - In what has been called "one of the best sports car races of the year", Paul Kaiser and Tony Buffomante battled side-by-side for every lap of the Saturday Hyperfest race at the historic Summit Point Raceway this weekend.  Kaiser in his Cadillac CTS-V and Buffomante on the TeamBRE Cobra were the class of the ST-2 field all weekend, turning fast laps in each session leading up to the race.  In the end, it was Kaiser's Cadillac ahead at the line by a scant .19 seconds over Buffomante.  Both cars ran the Hoosier A6 compound tires, leading a Hoosier sweep of the podium, as Tony Johnson of North Wilkesboro, NC came home in third.

Sunday's ST-2 race seemed to be a "blast from the past", as TeamBRE's familiar Factory Five Challenge Series rival, Brian Cates, took the pole in ST-2 qualifying, with Kaiser second in his Cobra, and Buffomante third.  At the start of the race, Buffomante managed to get past Kaiser and set his sites on the Cates Engineering #27 cobra.  Three laps later, Buffomante made his move going into turn one, and was never headed again, leading the final 12 laps of the race to take his 6th win of the season.  "As more of these drivers are switching to the Hoosiers, we are losing some of our advantage for sure", Buffomante said.  "We've still got a lot of work to do before Nationals to run with some of the high-horsepower cars, but I think we are on the right track.  Once again Dad and Mike did a stellar job in preparing the car!"
